A few weeks ago, I wrote on the death of gatekeepers. Today I am narrowing it down to TV Station and Film Industries.
If you don’t have money or know who is who in these industries you can never be seen or heard. You can never fulfil your dream. This is not true. The Internet killed the gatekeepers. The gate is now open wide; you can walk through without any hindrance. All you need is your laptop, smart phone and Internet connection.
If you are a comedian, don’t wait for you to be called by Ali Baba to appear on his show. Start your own show. Start uploading your skits on Youtube. If you have Gmail account, then you can have your own channel on YouTube. Look what Emannuela the little girl is doing on Youtube. Thanks to his uncle and YouTube she has been called to perform on stage with the big players in the comedy industry. Her popular skits where the Landlord was asking about his uncle was not original, It was taken from a scene from Despicable Me 2. I saw her video tour to Australia. She is going places
Frank Donga started off with online comedy videos. Now he is been featured on music videos, movies and TV shows. I love his combination with Denrele on The Boot show.
Tolu Ogunmefun of the T-Boy show fame started his comedy “Don;t Jealous Me” on YouTube
If you are an actor start doing your own skits with your friends. Start your own web series. A lot of actors were discovered this way.
I am not saying it is going to be easy, however, keep on uploading your skits or shows. Tell your friends and family to subscribe to your Chanel. Use social media to promote them.
Kim Kardashian was discovered online. I am not advocating you do what she did.
Tomorrow I will talk about record label gatekeepers.
